He Comes as Rain

“He comes as rain comes, as spring rain refreshing the ground.”-Hosea 6:3

It rains a lot in Guatemala during the summer time, and I don’t mean just the summer showers like we know and love. I mean all day, all night it’s raining at least 5 days out of the week. Personally, I love the rain. And I love this verse because it describes the water as God’s love and presence raining on us. I think it’s a beautiful way to look at it. I and 10 other interns will be working together for 6 weeks to help build a home for a Mayan family in Guatemala. I went last year also, so this will be my second year as a Para Servir intern with Dirty Feet. I am beyond excited!
When I was there, I felt hopeful. The culture and the people are so loving and humble, despite the living conditions, health troubles and family issues they might face. I know last year my prayer before going was to show people that there is hope in this life. But it’s funny because God kinda showed me how to have hope when we live in a hopeless world. It’s all in our perspective. I’m choosing to go back to Guatemala for the whole summer this year again simply because I think there is always room to grow, and why not do so while getting my feet a little dirty and getting to love on the people of Guatemala? Plus, I just can’t wait see my friend Sandra again. (:
